[How-to] Tomorrowland app on your Jolla

Hi Sailers!

Tomorrowland Belgium is about to start and they released an Android & Iphone app with the timetable, important information, stages, ... As this is an international & popular festival, I guess some people with Jolla Phones will also go to Tomorrowland. However, installing the Android app on your Jolla simply doesn't work.

Why?

Google Play Services are necessary to run the app. If you tap the warning away, the app will crash.

The fix

On the Crackberry forum you can find Gmaps Patches from Cobalt232. A link to the topic: Gmaps Patcher topic on the Crackberry forum

  1. Download Gmaps Patcher & run it.
  2. Download from the web the Tomorrowland APK.
  3. Load your Tomorrowland APK.
  4. Click on 'Analyze APK'.
  5. Normally, Gmaps Patcher will detect 2 things to patch.
  6. Click on 'Rebuild'.
  7. Load the patched APK on your Jolla and install it.
  8. Have fun!

Cheers, Dylan

Nice thank you! I couldn't use the Tomorrowland app last year because of that. The patcher might be useful for other apps as well :-)

You're welcome! It's the first Android app I tried that worked... I also tried Snapchat but that didn't work succesfully. The pop-up disappeared but you can't login. Making a new account works perfectly and you're logged in immediately however, if you logout you have to make a new account on Snapchat. Patching with Lucky Patcher failed, so I tried Gmaps Patcher.

It depends on the app for which feature they require Google Play Services.

Nice one Dylan..! Why don't you rename the thread to a general patcher for android apps, instead just for tomorrowland?

Also, since having a Jolla is pointless if someone installs Google Services (he/she could just go for android in the first place), is there by any means to learn on what exactly is installed on the device from the Gmaps patcher? It is just the gmaps api, or is it something more than this?

Thanks! The Gmaps patcher doesn't install nothing extra but it removes the Google Play Services dependencies and replaces the Google Maps API with another one based on Openstreetmap.

You can install a patched version of Google Play Services by Cobalt232 which work togheter with Gmaps patcher. I didn't do that since the TML app worked without it.
