Why jolla-store and not jolla-repos?

We are supposed to be "unlike", but the concept of a "store" to get apps is definitely not original...

Since the begining of linux times, rpm are available on a "repository". So please, change this ugly jolla-store name to jolla-repos.

An alternative option would be to make the distinction, jolla-store could be reserved to paying apps, or closed source apps only.

best, chris.

Being unlike just for the sake of being different is not a value by itself. Being unlike by doing something better is. This is the meaning of "being unlike" in my opinion.

To come to your question: Renaming the store just to be different than the others does not make sense. There is no advantage for anyone if Jolla does this. On the contrary it could confuse the customers.

A useful step would be to rename the Jolla Store to Sailfish store, since Sailfish OS will be licenced to other hardware manufacturers. On the first unofficial pictures of the new phone from intex I already saw a running appstore with this name on the display. Will this renaming come with the update to Sailfish OS 2.0?

#Unlike a "store" Linux distribution repositories allow cross package dependencies. So maybe the Jolla store/repos should also allow cross-package dependencies (at least on per-developer basis) and not just the current "bundle everything" mode ?

I'm sure many developers and users would welcome this possibility, as it makes possible to split homungous application bundles to a set of cooperating components that might even be optional and could be individually updated (less stuff to download). :)
