Connecting the Jolla to the car works and I can answer an incoming call. But making a call or streaming music is not possible

What year is the car, and more importantly, which Bluetooth system does it have? Because, not all Bluetooth systems sold by Citroën support music streaming. This page allows you to find out Bluetooth functionality in Citroën cars http://citroen.nextgen-technology.net/?culture=en .

The car is from 2012. But I can't find any information about BT protocols or software version. Music streaming and making a call and access the phone book worked with my old Nokia 5800 and also with an old Samsung phone (I don't know the type). If I start playing a song on the Jolla I can hear the music on the car hifi and I'm also able to switch to the next song while pressing a button on the radio. Starting a phone call on the jolla and speaking via the hands free also works. But I have not access to the phone book

There are at least four different ways to access the phone book; PBAP, RSAP, IrMC, and SyncML. And RSAP is not supported by Jolla. Read more here about my troubles to get phone book access to work on my Audi https://together.jolla.com/question/86714/audi-mmi-2g-contact-sync-over-bt-does-not-work/

In your original question you state:

But making a call or streaming music is not possible

And now in your answer you state:

If I start playing a song on the Jolla I can hear the music on the car hifi and I'm also able to switch to the next song while pressing a button on the radio. Starting a phone call on the jolla and speaking via the hands free also works.

I must say that it is a bit confusing and contradicting...

@nick75 thanks for the support. First I only tried on the car radio to make a call and to play music from the phone.

A few days later I made some tests. The results I have described in my answer.

Go to Bluetooth menu, press and hold the bluetooth paired device and check the settings. There you can see the supported profiles - don't have enough battery life now to check which ones are related, but my Alpine CDE-183BT car radio supports these: A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and then some profiles apparently unsupported by Jolla. I can answer and place calls, access phone book and log, and also listen to music - even Bluetooth music control works from steering wheel controls, yay! Also, make sure that incoming connections are always allowed from that device. You could also check the functionality with, say, an Android phone to see if that device supports those functions...

You can find a lot (all?) of Bluetooth profiles explained on this page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Bluetooth_profiles

And here https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/201440697-What-Bluetooth-profiles-does-SailfishOS-support- you will find the profiles supported by the Jolla phone.
