Hi there!

According to https://wiki.merproject.org/wiki/Adaptations/libhybris the Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro (iyokan) is very well supported.

The thing that interests me the most with this phone: It has a hardware keyboard!

See for yourself

So, is anyone using this combination and cares to share his experience with us?

I'd love to have a smaller phone with a hardware keyboard…

As the porter of that device I might have slightly biased opinion about the user experience but I'll give it anyway. In my opinion Sailfish OS is quite fast even on such an old device. Naturally the single-core processor of the device causes some performance issues compared to more recent devices when doing CPU intensive tasks but overall performance is good. Even Jolla Store is now working on the device. However, there are still some issues left to be solved. The most important (for me) of the remaining issues is related to hardware keyboard layout, which cannot be changed in a practical way (currently layout can be changed by replacing a file on the device) but that will hopefully be solved quite soon when the needed modifications are included in Sailfish. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask here or #sailfishos-porters channel on irc.freenode.net.

Thank you very much! I am thinking of buying the device and using it as my regular phone instead of the jolla phone. I hope you'll keep on building new releases for the device ;)

Do you see a change to hide the virtual keyboard, if the hardware keyboard is "slide out"? I assume the people around THOKBD have also solved this issue?

That will be fixed in next release. It can be fixed already if you run "zypper ref iyokan; zypper dup --from iyokan" as root (using devel-su). But there has been problems doing that and it may cause systemd to go crazy and using most of CPU. If that happens just try to reboot the device, if that fails with red led showing for a long time then just remove battery to force a reboot.
