Pre-order of the limited batch of Jolla Tablet

I really fancy the Jolla Tablet from what I've seen and heard and I'm thinking of getting one.

Though, all this chatter about pre-ordering of a limited batch confuses me.

Will there be only a limited batch produced of the tablet? If not, what is so special about this batch (apart from being the first tablets being sold)? I mean, should one wait to order till the next batch due to improvements of hardware or such?

Thanks!

Hardware is and will be the same for the tablet, it's not going to change. I recall reading something that the Tablet won't be sold continuously, but in small batches as now to reduce the manufacturing etc. costs. (Correct me if I'm wrong..)

One of the fans was guessing this batch includes the tablets refunded to Chinese campaign participants, as the tablet never reached that market. That might give a rue reason for "limited".

However, Jolla informs in their new shop that this is "next limited production batch", which might mean the "limited" is only a word to boost the sales, and the batch actually matches with the amount of orders

Whatever the reason is, I'm guessing these The Best of Mobile awarded tablets will sell quite nicely. If "limited" happens to be there for real, those who want one should place an order - or wait for a possible next batch, getting the tablet even later. Who would stop producing as long as it sells, but of course it'll end at some point (for this model)

I've seen quite a bit of talk on the forum here that people want to cancel their IGG pledge. My guess is that for whatever reason the initial production run will indeed have some surplus units after the IGG-pledges have been fulfilled. It only makes sense to sell these units.

@bilgy_no1: It is clear that the tablets being preordered are from a different batch from the ones from IGG, since the latter have been/are being manufactured and will be sent within mid September, much earlier than preordered units. @simo: AFAIK all batches are "limited", or they would not be batches. ;-) Maybe Jolla just want to stress that once reached the programmed batch size (1000? 5000? 10000? Whatever) preorders will be closed and manufacturing will start. I expect that later units will be available from the shop and distributors and subsequent batches will be manufactured depending on stock and sales.

My best guess is that the refunded tablets (both from China and few elsewhere) are sold again with this batch, but it'll also include new production as much as needed. Jolla is most likely gathering stats of interest at the same time, and if showing great, they might manufacture a batch sized well above the pre-orders for possible redistribution for shops/operators as well. The bigger the better :)
