Touch screen (software?) problem [duplicate]

Anyone else had a similar problem? From time to time, my phone touch screen starts to act quite strangely. The phone does not respond to any touch or slide gesture on the screen. However, if I do a edge swipe up/down/left/right, THAT works just perfectly. So it seems the touch screen HW is working just fine, but for some reason the software does not recognize the regular taps and swipes done in the middle of the screen.
This happens to me too. It might be possible to fix it by going to the settings menu and klicking...wait, clickong doesn't work. It's like the old "No keyboard detected, press F12 to continue" ;)
A reboot fixes this for me. It happens rarely so not a huge issue. A bit frustrating nontheless.
