Currently Sailfish OS stock input methods have limited support hardware keyboard inputs, for example the SW keyboard does not hide when using HW keyboard.

As the approach of Jolla Tablet, this will cause certain level of inconvenience, especially with Bluetooth keyboard. (I believe a certain amount of users will be using it.)

Currently using HW keyboard we are unable to:

  1. Typing with suggestive correction. No word selection. No auto capitalisation. - In opposite to SW keyboard.

  2. No HW support for Chinese Pinyin

  3. Unable to switch language using HW keyboard.

  4. SW layout does not hide.

Currently there are only limited number of people using TOHKBD2, however with the tablet more will use HW input so I believe it is important for Jolla to implement this feature in future release.

Any suggestions of using HW keyboard typing Chinese under current OS will be highly welcomed.

Thank you.

NB: I am aware of the question "Bluetooth keyboard does not work with the stock pinyin input method" has the similar content. However here I am asking for general question for HW input (BT Keyboard, TOHKBD) for ALL input methods, not only for Pinyin. So please do not file as duplicate.

I can confirm with 1.1.9.28 HW not working with Chinese. ;(

Hot only that but the keymappings seem to be taken from a batch of generic ones. Might have to be readapted to all the HW keyboards then?
