IDEA:

As a neophyte to Sailfish OS, I love the gestures, but they all go from the far left/right and top bottom. Why not a Miracast/Chromecast (or whatever else can be supported) way to cast your screens... but with a gesture.

EXPLANATION:

I know that screencast has been requested perhaps a few times, but why not incorporate it as a potential gesture. One that goes from the center of the screen to the top corner - left or right.

This could be useful to people that do presentations, want to watch a video on their TV's or even gaming. Watching a movie on your Jolla device, swipe up and to the right (towards the corner) to flick the video/screen to the paired device(s).

NOTE:

This is purely a feature request to cast your screen with a possible added gesture that doesn't exist yet.

I don't think gestures should be started from the actual display area. I assume those gestures will be accidentally activated many times during normal program/game usage...

I agree, but it should be incorporated in apps that should cast... which at this moment is extremely limited native wise (Documents, Media) but could be in place for other apps. Android app integration might prove trickier - that's where Popcorn Time, Netflix & VLC are mostly (when they work).

But I get your point. It's a feature request that invariably needs refinement. Thanks for your comment.

please please. and i mean more than in the "support the developer(s) who code this" frame of mind. For the JT to not just be taken serious but also do more than just be yet another tablet running Android apps, it makes sense to support this kind of behavior.

Put it in as default, and make it the kind of interface app devs could build their apps on top of so that the JT becomes the second screen, input device, game controller, or even VR camera to push usage in the right ocean.
