Music and playlists from internal storage not recognized after update to 1.1.7.28 [answered]

Yesterday my Jolla notified me there was an update available - Bjorntrasket, version 1.1.7.28. I went ahead with the update and everything seemed fine, but when I started the media player some of the music was missing, as well as the playlists. I found out that music and playlists from the phone's internal storage (NOT from the SD card, those files were still recognized) weren't imported in the media player. Can someone help me fix this?

Thanks, Broekeman

Hi ossi1967, indeed it is. I didn't notice before, but all photo's from the gallery were also missing.

The solution you suggested worked. Now everything is back and I'm grateful for your suggestion!

To say that I'm happy with the solution might be overstated though - I would have expected a little better from Jolla. If a reboot is the default answer to this annoying problem, it feels a bit like I'm getting advice from the Windows servicedesk....

Thanks and greetings, Broekeman

You're right. There's two issues here: That fact that the update leaves tracker in a non-working state (which seems to be regarded as "normal", given the answers gíven at the other thread) and the problem that Sailfish Utilities doesn't work as advertised when you want to use it to re-build the tracker database.

This is probably a duplicate of

Try to re-start the phone. The function to re-build the tracker database in Sailfish Utilities doesn't work reliably.

Hi raketti, thanks for your answer. I should have mentioned this in my original question, but I already tried that. To no avail, unfortunately - the music from the internal storage is still not recognized. After the refresh only the music on the SD card is found.

Thanks, Broekeman

If you haven't already, go to the Jolla Store and install Sailfish Utilities.

Then open Settings and do the following:

  • Select System
  • Select Utilities
  • Look for Refresh media database and press that.

It should restart and re-run the tracker and you media (photos, videos music, etc.) should be recognised. It might take a while depending how much stuff you have stored (both in internal and on SD-card) memory.
