Hi,

When I try to update, the first step is "start optimising". The message says I need ~1.5 Gb to proceed.

I launch the process and get an error message saying I have not enough disk space.

I tried the following commands:

# df -h /
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/mmcblk0p28 14G 8.6G 4.7G 65% /

then

# btrfs fi show
ERROR: unable get label Inappropriate ioctl for device
Label: 'sailfish' uuid: xxxxx
Total devices 1 FS bytes used 8.43GiB
        devid 1 size 13.75GiB used 13.75GiB path /dev/mmcblk0p28

Btrfs v3.16

If I understand correctly, btrfs fi show says my FS is full!? But it isn't!

How do I fix what I believe to be a false alarm and proceed to the upgrade?

Update:

Making more available space did it. It seems that, according to Jolla, 7Gb =~1.5Gb ;-)

I had a similar problem. Try rebooting the device and start again. It might even be better to power off and back on again. After that the update worked fine.

I shut down the phone every night. This does not solve the problem.

I did:

# btrfs-balancer balance
Balancing... 0 %
Balancing... 10 %
Balancing... 10 %
Balancing... 20 %
Balancing... 20 %
Balancing... 35 %
Balancing... 50 %
Failed. Please free up more space and try again.

==> Sadly not working.

Remove some applications or move some user data to SD card. Then run the balance operation. Finally re-install the apps and restore the user data from the SD card.

After I removed all videos, pics and music files, I have 3 gb of free space and it is not enough for upgrade. Could you please tell me which folders or data I could still remove safely ?

@lionlion: You could use a command such as du -h --max-depth=1 /home/nemo/ to locate the big folders. Then refine your search (du -h --max-depth=1 /home/nemo/.local/...) and delete the big files (don't forget to backup first... and be sure to know what you do!)
