Actually this is also partially discussed in another thread, but I think it deserves its own thread.

With the new release, waking up the phone leads to a slow animation where the left/right arrows and the current time fade in to the screen. Eventhough it looks really nice, I do not like it. I literally have to wait until I can actually interact with the system and finally leave the lockscreen by swiping left or right. In version 1.7, it seemed way faster.

Please make this animation faster or leave it out. Waking up the phone should be as instant as possible, it does not have to be too beautiful.

I absolutely agree.

Here, see my patch that fixes this behavior: Enhanced Lockscreen.

Hmm... even if the animation is not finished I am able to unlock so not sure what the exact problem here is. You don't have to wait for the animation to finish to unlock the device.

@leszek Two reasons:

  1. Most of us want to quickly check the time by double tapping the screen. It is really slow in the current implementation.
  2. The subsequent unlocking animation is not really responsive (unlike before), so one doesn't know whether the unlocking was successful, or not. If it was the case, then I would not mind the slow animation beforehand.

@nodevel: Yes agree quickly looking for time needs some patience.

I hope the speed improvements promised in the release announcement will be made for a future Update.

It was already discussed here https://together.jolla.com/question/106865/delay-when-waking-up-in-sfos-20/ . I also get the feeling that waking up the screen is quite slow compared to previous versions.

Though this is a reasonable decision, I am not quite sure it is right to close the question with more votes. As this one seems to be the one that people find through search and are actively voting on. Is there maybe a way to merge questions in askbot (including their votes)?
