Cover actions' tap tradeoff, what a pity! (1.1.9.28/Eineheminlampi) [duplicate]

What a pity that cover actions are from now on (1.1.9.28 early access release) tappable. It makes more difficult (not impossible when one gets used to them, but more difficult) to use them while walking (on the move) because the active region of the screen is so small especially when there's over 4 apps open (the same problem as using smartphone's on-screen-keyboard while walking). In addition, tapping is boring -- cover actions were actually quite fun to use compared to traditional smartphone tapping.

In addition, there's problem with feedback -- it's almost impossible in certain cases to know if I managed to tap the right area, e.g. in IP address app, was the "refresh tap" successful. I'd consider reverting this back by enabling user to disable the carousel (Events view could be then accessed e.g. by edge-swipe from left to right).

yeah, I feel you, it's a pitty the UI was dumbed down. cover actions were pretty unique.

Another problem with the cover actions is that the apps are closed automatically after a while, and then the actions are not usable. Thus the cover becomes a huge app icon without additional, useful functionality.

@Acce They are not closed "automatically" but just because the device does not have infinite memory.

@tigeli yes, I know. Unfortunately, from user perspective it is essentially "automatically". I'm not saying leaving the covers is entirely bad, it solves one problem: confusion from apps disappearing "automatically" in previous versions. However, from the viewpoint of active covers, the dead apps just fill the home screen... And is there much point in having them constantly visible, if they can only be used to restart the app?
