Update to Sailfish OS 2.0 wow...

I just updated to version 2.0 and I'm very impressed, how they change the whole GUI, but haven't made any improvement. Just looks like there is an product owner ho has to prove himself.

Before to lock, just have to swipe down. Now have to swipe down and press the lock button, one step more. Before double tap to unlock, now double tap to open the lock screen, than swipe, even one step more.

If i receive a message, my screen goes on and the message is popped up! That is private guys, who allows you to switch on and off my screen? I cannot put my phone on the table anymore, because any can read my private messages. Have put the phone upside down on the table, but cannot see the LED anymore. And I get a lot of messages, that cost battery to switch on my screen all the times.

Before the update i cloud use the LED, decide on the color, if I have to look, or not.

Where can I see my online status? the green bar? Is gone. Before, there was a very nice view of status, WLAN, flight modus, charge modus, between the start screen and the grid. Now is an ugly bar at the top like in Android...why?

Where to change my online status? You mean that menu item in the settings, this one, which is copied from the old pulley menu? Looks like a bad hack, just no idea, where to put it now? Put it back, it was on the right place guys.

I was hoping, you improving this fine GUI with features, like OTR or GPG or more identities per account in the mail app, or readability, because it was a quite good phone for messaging. But I'm now very disappointed, you starting like all the others, just changing things, which haven't do be changed, for no reasons at all. Your users didn't force you for that shit.

So, waiting for a new OS, hopefully sometimes will be start a company, which knows what the users want: constancy, durability

On my desktop i ended up witch xfce4, because they have no resources to change the GUI all the time, just keep it like it is. And I just use it for my work.

I don't see a real issue there. I like Saiflish OS 2.0 a lot and most things can be fixed using community patches. This is power that Sailfish has over other operating systems. It's well customizable. As for new users, I think Sailfish OS 2.0 has only advantages while advanced users can apply changes to their needs. Why not adding your "Presence" button to the favourites? For example?

To be fair for the unlocking part: before you had to double tap to wake up the screen then swipe it away. Not much change there, except maybe for the slightly long animation (though it's still seems fast to me, no need to wait for the arrows to fully appear to swipe away).

Exactly. The Lockscreen or unlock method only changed to swipe from right or left. The animation is nice and you don't need to wait for it to be finished to unlock.

Best thing of SFOS 2.0 is the battery life. Basic navigation is changed, but for what? I had no problem with the old gui only the empty unlock screen was a bit strange (or should I say "unlike";-) ) In the new design some strong elements are gone: - the four apps at the bottom of the home screen, you can get them back by double tap, but only when there is not a single app open because when one app is open, double tap leads to nothing... - the swip lock gesture that is mentioned in the original post - Jolla apps use second cover action? and some things are changed for no particular reason: - using the powerbutton to turn the phone off, takes double time.... - the animation after selction of the pull down- / pull up menu (I know: it will improve in next version, but why was it changed anyway? Was TJC full of comments that the menus shifted so fast, that you could not even see your choice?? ) - the smaller pulley menu in the landscape mode...

I understand the remark of the product owner who has to prove himself....

I have to agree with the OP. I see no UI/UX improvements, quite the contrary.

well, the thing is, you have valid points, but the tone is kind of harsh, that's why I decided not to upvote.

I agree with most of the points, but I don't think such posts belong on TJC, that's why I decided not to upvote (and was even thinking about downvoting for a brief moment). You should create separate request for each problem you have with the release.

Some people vote up, some down, that's life...

I was also considering between up'n'down, ending with up as the points are quite well justified. However, your post is more like a "blog post" sharing an opinion, not in its best form to be valuable post here on TJC :/ We like separated posts, one for each wish (after search, of course). That would make also the voting more efficient.

@nodevel@simo From my point of view, the wish is just one and can be summarized as: Give us back our 1.0 UI. And that's exactly what's getting all my upvotes.
