Is there a way to pin apps to the bottom of the home screen (SFOS 2.0)?

I would like to know if there is an option to make apps like Phone, Message or Browser always available. In pre 2.0 Sailfish there were four icons pined to the home screen. I have noticed that the new interface offers only an option to pop-up those icons but when there is atleast one app minized that function does not work and to access those apps it is necessary to open the app drawer.

Agreed. I like to have the first 4 icons of the "app drawer" to be able to show on the multitasking view just by dragging it up a little and then stay there.

Exactly. It is very handy when some functions of the phone are available without unnecessary interactions with the UI.

If I tap the home screen, the top 4 apps pop up.. this doesn't seem to work anymore when apps are open though...?

@pauluvt That's probably just a visual que for users where the app drawer is located.

Yep, with downgrading to any SFOS1 release ;) well, seriously, there's an ooption to add some actions to Events view via Settings > System > Events, but not selectable favorite apps like before directly on the home screen.

As a _permanent_ workaround, you can now leave any favorite apps as home screen covers - even if they get killed by OOM, they'll still be there (dimmed), enabling quick relaunch. I guess this will be the most common way to use "favorite apps" still on SFOS2

+1 for the ghost cover feature

How can I add an app as favourite such that I have the described "ghost" cover?

naytsyrhc ( 2015-09-10 10:25:15 +0300 )edit

@naytsyrhc Just exit the app with swipe-from-side. Sailfish apps get "ghosted" when they are killed automatic (by lack of memory). Android apps seems also to get "ghosted" when they are closed with Android back-button.

Oh well. So this is not a real choose of favourite I'd say. It's just that I can have multiple apps open (wow, multitasking, ;-) ) and the new feature is, that the app doesn't get killed anymore on low memory but get's ghosted. Nice enough, but not what I'd consider an alternative to the orignial request.

yep, only a workaround, as I mentioned.
