Sailfish Development Roadmap: No news about things planed long ago [answered]
The Sailfish Development Roadmap is a great thing to have and makes us look forward to quite a few features yet to come.
However, I'd need some help in interpreting entries from Q1/Q2 that are neither released nor even finished. What's their status? Dropped? Postponed? If postponed, is it possible to re-assign them to a different month on the roadmap? Finished but not flagged as such?
Examples include:
- Sailfish UI extension architecture to allow 3rd party to access the platform’s UI modules (January)
- Option to move photos and media from internal memory to SD card (March)
- SIP integration to Accounts (April)
- Community instance of translation server Pootle (April)
Month in roadmap is when task is started, not when it us expected to be finished

It's just that it makes you wonder if things from the earliest months are all finished and released - but among them you find a few that seem to make no progress. My assumption here is that things started so early this year could have come to an end meanwhile. If they were started months ago and are now on hold for whatever reason, it woulf be nice to know.
ossi1967 ( 2015-09-10 21:00:57 +0300 )editwell last 2-3 months will have been tablet focused, given they were finalising the image that it would be shipped with
r0kk3rz ( 2015-09-10 21:24:22 +0300 )editSIP integration has been ongoing. Tom (alterego in freenode IRC) has been working on that, and I believe that it is nearing completion (but then will need to undergo testing and stabilisation rounds, so it may take some time to get released).
The community translation server I have been asking about this one internally, too. The latest news I got is that things were progressing on that front. I will ask if a more concrete landing date can be shared for that one.
chris.adams ( 2015-09-11 04:41:19 +0300 )editThe Sailfish UI extension architecture is part of the much larger topic of platform security and application sandboxing. I know that work is being done on this topic, but it's a long-term project which I don't expect to be completed in the very near future. I'm certain that the system architects will share more information when the implementation is more advanced.
I know nothing about the SD card / media storage topic.
