[1.1.9.28] new button style is ..
Even though I had to get used to the now old style of the buttons, it had some consistency with the pulley menus and the prev/next page indicators. The new style buttons are, well .. uninspiring? bland? out of place? In many apps the buttons now look quite horrible actually, unaligned, too big, lack of margins etc. Additionally, this new style button is now similar to what some apps used as a highlight style or tag.
I want the old styling of buttons back. The current style is a mistake might need some polishing.
edit: I think I was a bit too strong in my opinion about the new button style. I quite liked the old design and was initially disappointed with the new style because IMO it lost the visual coherence with checkboxes, progress bars and pagestack indicators (the 'glowing carbon fiber filter'). I do understand however that it's not a design that's usable in all situations.
I still think the height of the new style buttons is a bit too much, and I think a small adjustment there could help, along with, maybe, a combination of the old style with the new, giving the button an underline and bit more 'depth'.
edit2: add screenshot
there is a patch in openrepos
pawel ( 2015-09-11 09:47:20 +0300 )editthat's great, but I'm trying to convince Jolla that they should reconsider.
I'm not planning to carry patches around, with all the hoop jumping that it brings when updating..
accumulator ( 2015-09-11 09:53:36 +0300 )editCould you post a screenshot for those that did not went the 1.1.9.28 path yet?
piero ( 2015-09-11 10:25:48 +0300 )editI agree with this view. New style buttons approaching SfOS to the others (less unlike). :(
cocovina ( 2015-09-11 10:32:44 +0300 )edit@accumulator as tuomakin told, he likes it, and a lots of people maybe likes it too.
cemoi71 ( 2015-09-11 13:11:35 +0300 )edityou don't likes it, and it should be respect too. maybe you could with time like it.
And there for sure a lot's of people who like the old design one (me too).
that's why i found the remark from tuaomakin to make a parameter for toggle this design aspect quite good...
maybe you could add it on your thread if it make sense to you... what do you think about it?
oh yes please put the screenshot for the not early access people, maybe with an other with the old design nearby for comparing both, so that all could appreciate the problem.
cemoi71 ( 2015-09-11 13:13:46 +0300 )editit is like a personal preference, I do prefer the old style too. The new style looks a bit "rectangural" and needs more space for buttons, as a result several applications look broken as buttons overlap themselves, e.g. werehouse app "check updates" and "install" buttons.
pmelas ( 2015-09-11 13:36:04 +0300 )editone for the old style. On the 'we are unlike' product, certainly, buttons shoud look a rather unlike, still be clean and functional.
danfin ( 2015-09-11 14:13:19 +0300 )editthank you for the screenshot
cemoi71 ( 2015-09-11 14:37:21 +0300 )editbuttons here are bigger. old one was more futuristic i think
cemoi71 ( 2015-09-11 14:39:04 +0300 )editI absolutely agree. New button style has nothing to do with being "unlike". Sailfish UI is light-weight, transparent, so old-school button style simply does not fit.
