Well, it is not a real issue, but it's quite annoying.

After update

devel-su pkcon remove sailfish-tutorial

is not able anymore to uninstall tutorial app. It tries to update something instead. It seems something related to new dependencies between packages, but I am not sure.

My previous answer is removed as it contained bad information. I hope you didn't go ahead with my instructions, as you will be presented with a black screen on your device and no UI to sort it. I've had to TELNET to my device and reset it - oh sh*t!

My most sincere apologies if you did follow my previous post, please respond asap and tell if you did or didn't follow my instructions!, I hope you didn't! :(

Don't worry. I didn't. Years of GNU/Linux usage tought me to not force something my package manager doesn't want to do :P

My question was more like a curiosity, I can live with tutorial still on my phone.

PHEW!, I would have hated for you to be sat there, cursing and trying to furiously update back to 1.1.9.28 ( which I am now doing! :D )

One thing I do know is, this is FOR SURE, if you find the application .desktop file, you can add NoDisplay=true to the list. The icon is then hidden from launcher.

I found that uninstalling Tutorial is a hassle and a constant fight with Jolla as every OS update puts it back in. So now, instead of uninstalling, I just hide it from view.

Edit

/usr/share/applications/sailfish-tutorial.desktop

and add the following line:

NoDisplay=true

(Oops, typing on a Jolla takes too long. I was beaten by @Markkyboy who added a comment with the same suggestion first.)

@pichlo - lol, I'm reading this only now.....hehehe, oh well, it all helps, nice one changing to wiki, it's respectful to all, but at least you gave clearer instructions than I did, so it's all good :)

Meanwhile and for what it's worth, I've created a patch for hiding the sailfish-tutorial icon and I'm currently hunting around to see what the word is regarding uninstalling the said tutorial - which IF my memory does serve me correctly also, uninstalling creates all kinds of problems, I'm certain I did it a while back and it uninstalled more besides the tutorial, surely with me ignoring or not reading the 'y/N' affirmation that normally follows uninstallation.

IF, however, uninstalling the tutorial IS actually safe to do, can someone pipe up and let me (everyone) know - it'd be nice to know, then I wouldn't tit around making pointless patches! :D ;)

The last time I checked, it was the other way around. You could uninstall Tutorial with pkcon in the past without a problem, but Jolla in their infinite wisdom put a stop to it around the 1.1.9 time and introduced an artificial dependency Nokia-style so that now trying to uninstall it will decimate half of your system. Why on earth did they do it is anyone's guess.

Okay, so still not a good idea then.

So a patch for hiding the tutorial icon is not such a bad idea after all - more aimed at those not keen on trying to edit files in a browser or by terminal.
