Many common Italian phrases contain an apostrophe, and it is inconvenient to have to switch to the numeric layout to reach it. There is space for it in the second row, it would make sense to have it on the side of the "L" key.
Alternatively, the dead "`' accent could be used to input an accent if combined with a space. This would at least save a switch to the other layout.

Ok, but it's the purpose of predefined keyboard layouts to save hassle to users, including those who are not technically smart enough to do this easily.

No way Jolla can take care of each and every individual request. zlatko ( 2014-11-30 13:04:56 +0300 )editI beg to differ. The question is not an individual request but a suggestion to improve the layout for all Italian-speaking users, so my opinion is that Jolla should provide an updated layout for the Italian keyboard as standard.

If I have waited for Jolla to add Bulgarian Cyrllic keyboard...you can guess :)

Sure, you can avoid some of this problem in the cases where the phone's prediction catches what you're trying to type, but this is hardly a good justification to keep it on the second page. Predicion is not an infallible feature, and more over doesn't even work for some text input fields (like the browser).
