To use my Jolla to access my work Microsoft Exchange information, I apparently need the OS to support MDM which seems to be a Microsoft system to manage BYOD approach inside firms (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/server-cloud/solutions/mobile-device-management.aspx). Apparently this is not supported yet.

Is it planned to come in SFOS ?

I am interested to know as well what it means in terms of control by the employer of my phone :p

Taking a look at MDM suggests that you loose control of your phone otherwise enforcing policies would be pointless. And it looks very complex and deep reaching, i.e. such a software is a bit more than just an user-installable app. But I could be wrong. :)

Just for reference: Sailfish OS 2.1.1.x includes the option of installing the Sailfish OS MDM Framework.

The following comment by sledges is taken from here:

MDM is ability to access and setup a mobile device remotely. It's the Sailfish OS framework (enablers for MDM) that will be shipped only in devices of customers that require such capability, and those customers will be responsible for developing actual clients.
Vanilla Sailfish OS will be free from MDM, even though enablers (API) will still be there, however connecting and manipulating them requires elevated privileges, and also, those enablers are not exposed via TCP/IP.
A process with elevated privileges can naturally damage the device even in earlier SFOS versions (without MDM present), just like on a Linux desktop.
Moreover, if no MDM client is installed, MDM library would not exist on the system, and then even enablers would have no way of triggering themselves.

You might want to try to set up Intune Company Portal for Android which you can get from here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.windowsintune.companyportal (or here: http://apkpure.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.windowsintune.companyportal) if you don't have Google Play installed. Don't know if it works without Google Services though.

I guess the recent 2.1.1 is a first step into MDM but not for vanilla SFOS easily as far as I can see...

Thanks for this thread. I am also trying to get my personal Jolla C to be part of the company's MDM. They use Airwatch by Vmware as the client, but I get unsupported action. I did not see anywhere how I can enable the Sailfish OS MDM Framework, and not sure if it really meet my needs. Thank you

MDM is very platform specific. Airwatch does not support Sailfish, so it won't work. There seem to be some MDM API's implemented in newer sailfish versions, but as long as there is no 3rd party support, it is of litter use. Full support of ActiveSync policies /MDM would be nice, and could be implemented by Jolla without 3rd party support .

Thank you for the reply. Not sure I totally understand as this is not my expertise. When I try the Android app, I get through the server identification, but then for the permissions, I get unsupported action. Is there something I can do about it? Debug to see what is the required missing action/view logs/ask for a feature? Thank you.
