Yesterday I got Jolla phone and everything is pretty cool, especially terminal. :) But I can't chat with my local friends because there is no Ukrainian layout. Fast googling leaded me into the following output:

Steps:

What's wrong?

Is there any way I can help in l10n area? I wish I could install extra layouts as plugins from Jolla Store like Firefox does. But Selfish OS isn't designed for that.

Or Jolla should add more keyboard layouts.

There's two in the thread you linked to, did you get the old one or the updated one?

I've toyed a bit with my own customized maliit layouts and I got similar symptons as you describe when I had made a cock-up with the layout code and the maliit engine apparently could not comprehend it. Could it be an incompatibility issue with the layout and your version of Sailfish OS and the version (?) of maliit?

@teemu, right. I had the same feeling, seems it's indeed version incompatibility. However I can't find newer manual or something.

@Teodor, I don't know how different the layout is in Russian and Ukrainian keyboards, but if we aren't talking massive differences then as a first aid you could get the RU layout files from the maliit folder and tweak them in the needed way to make it Ukrainian. Just change the filenames for UE(?) and tweak the conf file as needed. You already know where the files are supposed to go. :)

With TinyEdit and the root version of File Browser from the Warehouse you can do it on the phone.
