Hi All,

After updating to the latest OS 1.1.9.28 I find my jolla phone keeps restarting. As it stands when I go to do anything in the OS kike check mail / send sms / open telegram / set an alarm / take a call the OS shuts down and reboots. Sometimes it spends 20 / 30 mins rebooting. Something after it reboots it tells me the battery is at 4% even though it was charged earlier. When I manually reboot it it shows proper battery level. Currently since upgrading my jolla phone I cant use it. Is this a known issue? Is there an update coming to fix this? If not can I downgrade to a previous working version. There is no water damage or any damage to the phone. It worked perfectly before update now it doesnt work and I cant rely on it. Regards Sean

This might not even be update related. Take a look through this TJC item:

EDIT:

This is perhaps a more complete TJC for the issue: https://together.jolla.com/question/7144/jolla-randomly-shuts-down/?sort=votes&page=1

I have had a good look at these 2 links. The only reason I doubt its a battery problems is that last week I didnt have the problem, but when I upgraded Friday night it started. Plus it is restarting alot / and the white / red light comes on meaning it is getting power. But i have cleaned the contacts and the same thing happens. Issure seems to be related to the upgrade :(

99% not due to update. rather 'sudden battery drain'

battery drain doesnt make sense. As when it restarts there is plenty of battery power left. Catch is though sometimes it "fights" to reboot and can take 1 hour and when finally the OS opens and you open any app it says "no" and shuts down again.

@SOBroin, maybe you need to factory reset. Clearly things are very broken.

I did a system recovery last night, and so far all seems ok. But Ill hold off a few hours before posting a confirmed solution. Happily a restore didnt remove my photos / files etc etc

Yes reverting is possible after 1.1.9.28 has been installed.

During update to 1.1.9.28 there seems to be no flashing of crucial firmware or anything take place that would prevent proper functioning of 1.1.7.28 afterwards.

I have done it through "settings: reset device" and everything seemed fine but then something went wrong during setup of 1.1.x Alien Dalvik (proposed during system setup), and as a result it could no longer boot into the UI. So many annoying things can go wrong during a Jolla update.

Next I followed the recovery procedure here: https://jolla.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/204709607

It worked perfectly. So I suppose that if you can put your device in recovery mode it will work for you as well.

Just make sure you agree with the warnings about first contacting Jolla help desk ... ;)

I would recommens you to do one of the steps mentioned here: LINK Are you an early user? did you choose the opt-in for early access? The log would be very useful for zendesk, as an early adopters logs are persistent, not sure if 1.1.9.28 automatically activated it for all users. Sound like update is not finished, maybe version --dup would help, if you are confident with terminal...

No not an early user (not very technically minded) so wanted to wait for the official release. I dont have the terminal on the devise (ie: dont have developer mode turned on) But even that is a problem as I cant get in to turn it on as it switches off.
