Pictures/videos sent from Gallery - where do they go? [not relevant]

I made a video earlier today and emailed it directly from Gallery. The email was received but it does not show in the Sent folder of any of my email accounts (I have 5). Where did it go?

(I found a similar question posted years ago but my case is slightly different: the video was sent, just not shown in any Sent folder.)

Pictures and videos sent from Gallery app are stored in the Sent folder of your default account for sending emails.

The default account can be set in Settings -> Apps -> Email.

That's where I was expecting it. But it was not there. I will make a few more experiments to see if there is a pattern.

It worked out for me, tested using a pic and a vid respectively. My standard account is of type general email. But as I think of it, I remeber I had to reinstall the account after one of the latest updates. Maybe a clue?

Thanks for your comment. I did not have the time for experiments yet but I remembered that I emailed that video when I was connected via 3G from a moving car. It is possible that the connection was lost at just the right moment for the email to go through but not sync to Sent although I would expect that that is a function of the email server, not client.

Right, that could be the case. I have just recalled the same trouble when I used a sluggish hotel WLAN. The sent mail was not there even though I had created the mail from inside the Email app and, same as your experience, it was delivered.

Update. Had only time for a short experiment on a home network but hete goes.

Sent two emals from Gallery, one attachment each, one after another, in this order:

  1. An 11 MB video
  2. A 1 MB picture

While the sending was ongoing, I went off to do other things, then came back a couple minutes later to check the progress:

  1. Emal #1 (with the video) was nowhere to be seen.
  2. Email #2 (with the picture) was still in Outbox of the default account.

Another few minutes, another check:

  1. Email #1 still nowhere to be seen.
  2. Email #2 found in Sent of the default account.

Both emails were received correctly.
