Guideline wiki listing all TJC members with extended roles. If you need to contact an admin or moderator, you can @mention them. Mentioning can be done on any post by adding "@" in front of the username, and the user mentioned get a notification of that question/answer/comment.

Admins

keto, sdjayna

Moderators

chemist (community mod), eric, tigeli, James, bijjal, stezz, dez, lbt, rainisto, jukka, cybette, kontio, spiiroin, tbr (community mod), thp, jbrooks, iekku, jiit, harri-hakulinen, jovirkku

Sailors / Jolla employees

All users and supporters are actually called as Sailors, we are Doing It Together. However, quite often this term is used in a meaning of Jolla employees only. Additional to the ones listed above there are +30 employees on TJC with some activity and even more who only visit here reading our posts in their own area of interest. Jolla employees can be recognized having a Jolla logo visible in their posts and in the people & groups list.

Important - Everybody posts as individuals

Admins, Moderators and Jolla employees comment and post on TJC as individuals, not as representatives of the company. Any posts by them should not be taken as official information, except for questions separately marked with a reserved tag official. Even the answers in these official posts should be taken as personal notes only.

Who moderates this community? The short answer is: you. This website is moderated by the users. Karma system allows users to earn rights to perform a variety of moderation tasks (source: FAQ)

This wiki is added to guidelines to help to find admins and moderators when needed, and to explain the role of Jolla employees on TJC. This should encourage everybody to moderate, and everybody to share also their personal opinions among us, making it clear that all posts as equal, no matter if it's posted by fan/critic/user/outsider/employee. Also any possible mistakes should be allowed for everybody.

Hi @cemoi71, indeed I made some changes that I know for sure. For the rest, if any, I need to confirm. Thanks for bringing it up!

There need to be a "Stickies" function that keeps threads like this at the top of the list. Othewise they get lost.

A feature that is unfortunately not available with Askbot.

Not sure if this is possible, but a FAQ section with links to related questions would do as well. Either linked here on TJC or at least on the jolla website.

Dear Moderators, admins

in the last few weeks there are many new questions including spam. Would it be possible to add an additional moderation if a new question includes a link? Maybe spammers will find a workaround - maybe there is a better sollution but please find a way.

Indeed, spam is an ongoing problem and is more or less, a daily occurrence. I usually report it via the 'give feedback' link at the bottom of this page but I've noticed it doesn't always mean the spam gets removed. I personally would prefer to see a zero tolerance attitude towards spam posts but it seems it simply is not a priority for Jolla.

@Edz i personally use the flag offensive button at the posts bottom. Usually those posts are deleted relatively fast compared to the amount of mods.

Yes, I'm aware of the approach. My approach was originally suggested by admin, if I recall, it was Keto, but eh, whatever gets the job done eh :)

Additionally to the offensive flag stunt, I could think of a dozen frequently active users to be armed with the license to kick. What do you guys think of that? @Keto?

lakutalo ( 2018-01-03 17:29:58 +0300 )edit

@lakutalo - I agree with your stance and I have offered my services to do just that, as I am in front of my PC most days if not everyday. One of my current duties, is removing spammers from Openrepos, mainly because I would always report the spam to the site owner, who eventually offered me a mods position, which I gladly carry out - it's quite good fun and keeps the site clear of idiots; this way, we all have a pleasant place to visit and share software. By the way, I think you will find Keto is no longer a 'sailor'......Oops!!, his account shows he was online 3 hours ago - so perhaps @Keto is still with us! (I'm now wondering why I thought he had left!, doh!)
