cannot install TextSecure Jolla Edition [not relevant]
I used the official version of TextSecure from Google Play for some time. Now I uninstalled it (via Google Play) and tried to install TextSecure Jolla Edition from Jolla Store. But the installation doesn't work (tried several times):
- opened Jolla Store and went to TextSecure Jolla Edition
- selected install
- after some seconds Jolla Store suddenly closed and I was on home screen (this should not happen!). Jolla Store was on home screen as an active cover. When I opened it again (started really fast, so doesn't seem to have been unloaded), it showed TextSecure Jolla Edition as being installed.
- but: launcher shows no icon for TextSecure Jolla Edition!
I still can install other apps from Jolla Store, including Android apps. My Jolla has several gigs of free memory.
Any ideas?
Do you still have some temporary or data files left over from the PlayStore TextSecure version ? Did you only remove the App oder did you also cleared its cache and data beforehand ?
You can manually remove the stored TextSecure data with root rights by removing the /data/data/org.thoughtcrime.securesms folder.
This will remove all stored conversations aswell as the encryption key.
This means you need to reregister your device upon new installing.

The directory /data/data/org.thoughtcrime.securesms does not exist; a find from / for 'org.thoughtcrime.securesms' didn't show any occurrences. Is there any other directory I should clean?

leszek ( 2015-10-05 12:42:51 +0300 )editI uninstalled Google service by going through the install steps, just the opposit direction. You could also try installing the apk through terminal which might sometimes work. You might want to make some space and clean up your btrfs as well.
inte ( 2015-10-05 12:48:38 +0300 )edit@leszek: journalctl indeed shows a suspicious line:
@inte: I tried apkd-install:
..but this leads to the same error message in journal.
There are a few questions on tjc regarding this error message, for instance [BUG] Can't install apk files after 1.1.9.28 update But this doesn't help either. :-/
