Locking the device e.g. while the app-grid is still pulled up is not directly possible but can be very useful in hectic situations.

Even though I posted this a while ago within the jolla blog I'm doing it here again to make it votable for a hopefully improved SFOS 2 experience ...

Locking the device is different from locking the screen. It seems you mean the latter. Device lock is meant for when you need a code to unlock the device.

Locking is possible by double-pressing the power button.

.... but unfortunately not by a single-handed single swipe ;)

Now you need to tap the lock icon, which will take you approx. 1/20 of a second. I don't personally understand why people complain that it's so slow with the new UI - it's not that much slower or harder to lock the screen.

@raketti: it's not so much about speed as it's about ergonomics for me.

I don't find locking the screen any harder/slower/cumbersome than before...

new method of swipe then tap is less ergonomic: it is 1) not single movement 2) not easy do do blind.

While keeping currents layout pull down and release on first vibration would be more ergonomic than pull down then tap.
