The elusive tablet has actually begun moving! I got an sms yesterday saying that electronic shipping info had been received for something to me from HK. At the time I was a bit puzzled, but when I checked the google doc one other person had got his/her DHL notice.

I was one of the very first pledgers, pledging probably 3 minutes before the IGG was supposed to open making me about #56. I paid VAT on Sep 22nd. And today there is actual shipping progress!

Not just that, they claim it'll be here by Friday, so stay tuned. image description

Update: Official shipping e-mail received, store status says shipped.

Update: Now in Leipzig, Germany! Delivery tomorrow seems quite plausible to me.

Cool, that you didn't have to wait for monday. I didn't get one when the campaign was on because I don't need a tablet. But now I saw your pictures I want one ;-)

Kindly request you to add a post here - Jolla Tablet buyers, how much did you pay for taxes and custom? - as it would be really helpful to others.

sifartech ( 2015-10-11 01:32:37 +0300 )edit

@sifartech: I don't quite understand the purpose of that thread, I paid the 25% VAT that is the case for Sweden. What is the help others can get from this? (189+25+49)*0.25=65.75 is exactly what I paid. Judging from the comments you already have, isn't this the case for everyone?

attah ( 2015-10-11 15:30:53 +0300 )edit

@attah - As I explained, it would help people be sure of the final, actual cost of the tablet, in their country, instead of trying to figure out themselves and make a best guess. This might be simpler for those from EU to be sure, but it isn't an easy task in other countries to calculate the additional charges they'll have to bear (customs, taxes, extra courier charges etc.). So your post could definitely help someone else as anyone from Sweden and / or EU can then be SURE about the additional expenses they will have to bear ...

I'm curious about the shipping process for the next batches. However, the process of delays and hardly getting any updates has really dampened my enthusiasm. I know Jolla are a small company, a and I have a lot of respect for what they already achieved, but they didn't handle the communication well at all.

Even this test run didn't make their planning, and we heard nothing from Jolla. Other backers past the first 100 or so are still completely in the dark, other than that it's delayed by at least 5 months already. Not cool!

Jolla captain Antti Saarnio just wrote a blog post on the subject.

Yeah, I saw that this morning. Still no clear indication of what this means for a particular backer.

And the problem is not only with the delay, but also with the lack of communication. And when they do communicate, it's too little too late. This particular update dhould have been published a week ago when the planning from their previous blog ran out. Why wait for the social media shitstorm before sharing an update? Every time again.

Jolla should look at Pebble for a good example of communication in a crowdfunding campaign.

The post is very welcome, although not of much help to others who are waiting; as in, they (me included) do not know in which batch their tabled will come out. We know it will be shipped either on November or December. I guess they were too busy / did not know how many devices they can send yet / did not bother counting...

What do you mean by "left to the dust"? And what does the mem upgrade have todo with the delivery schedule?

Only 64gb versions have been shipped even to those who were invited and payed taxes. 32Gb are even delayed for them. Thus the unnecessary loud words i guess ;)

When you receive your email about your jolla tablet shipment, did you have a tracking code ? Because mine isn't working for 3 days since I received the email...

First, all i got was an sms from dhl. The email didn't arrive until it was well on its way. Both contained the tracking number. I have heard that some carrier needs the tracking number prepended by a 0, i think that was for DPD. Is this the case for you?
