Right upon changing the current keyboard language ( usually by spacebar ) the word just begun typing on should become subject of the other, newly chosen language as well. There should be no need to first delete what has been typed so far to get auto-completion for the next language.

Of course shifting to emoticon or other symbol-layouts should not affect the currently active prediction language ;) ...

In what way is this not a duplicate of the "linked" question (you should use hyperlink, not just mention question id)? You should modify the original question to address this specific issue instead of opening a new question.

Here how the link of the original request would spell out for for you :

The dictionary should apply the current language to whatever word the cursor is currently on, full stop.

If I move three words back, the dictionary should check that word. Using the currently selected language.

Just like any sane OS does.

How should the keyboard know that you are not adding a word in another language at the very point you are - so refreshing/resetting the word prediction is actually a logical action. Also you just need to delete one character to get the prediction activated for the current word.

the keyboard wouldn't know, but that sounds like a real corner case! I agree with this request. I often start typing, and then realize the dictionary is the wrong langue. Yes I can just delete one character, but that means extra typing, and wasted time.

[ @chemist ... well if you don't type multi-lingually often you won't get the concept. If you don't even mind to actually read the request you shouldn't fidget around that ignorant with inadequate responses or with duplicates that don't apply. ]

@chemist, it should not matter what word is being typed or whether it is being typed at all. The dictionary should check the word based on the cursor position, not based on the keyboard input. If my daughter's Android tablet can do it, I don't see why my Jolla couldn't.
