Hey sailors!

Right now if you perform double swipe from top gesture, you will first open the lock/ambiences menu and then close it.

What if second swipe from top would not close the menu, but lock the phone. It's easy, it's repetetive gesture, so it's really fast (it is faster than swipe and click). And would probably apeal to all the people who hate new swipe from top.

What do you say?

What do we say? I say it's been requested so many times that English needs a new word as "duplicate" simply does not cover it.

Example: https://together.jolla.com/question/107042/sailfish-os-20-bring-back-screenlock-when-swiping-from-top-at-homescreen-or-at-least-optional/

@pichlo did you find a word yet?

Yes. Why? Do you want to add a reason for closing a question?

Not as good as the old way.

  • How many times a day do you need to switch ambiance? Lets say four (silent mode on and off twice).
  • How many times a day do you lock your phone? After every use and every time you check the time (pain in the ass in 2.0 but still). Thirty?

I suppose ambiances are supposed to become a selling point for Sailfish, but they don't deserve to be featured so prominently that they make far more used action inconvenient.

again, i'm not saying "let's do that, because the new way is bad". I'm saying that in current situation it would be really nice if second swipe from top would lock the phone.

To me double swipe goes against the simplicity and clean way of doing things in SFOS. The same goes for the swipe + tap that is currently in place when I cannot lock my phone without looking at it.

There's an even faster way to lock the phone: you can simply press the power button! Faster and no stretching of the thumb needed...
