Hi everyone,

I not get whatsup (newest 0.2.1 version) working on my Jolla phone. If I enter my number the buttons 'sms' or 'call me' are not working. I can click it a 100 times, but no reaction at all. I know there a users (twitter, etc) where it is just working. So, what I am doing wrong? I really hope someone can help me with this problem.

I not want to use the android version, otherwise I beter could or should buy an android phone.

I am afraid whatsapp has blocked whatsup from working....

I think I'm right in saying; "forget it" where the native app is concerned. See this link for some info; https://together.jolla.com/question/106989/whatsappwhatsup-complaining-to-whatsapp-via-email/ and https://together.jolla.com/question/89380/discussion-for-whatsup-native-client-for-whatsapp/

If I look in the terminalif you hit the sms or call me button:

SMS [w] unknown:285 - file:///usr/share/whatsup/qml/pages/RegisterPage.qml:285: TypeError: Cannot call method 'substring' of undefined

CallME [w] unknown:308 - file:///usr/share/whatsup/qml/pages/RegisterPage.qml:308: TypeError: Cannot call method 'substring' of undefined

What's your point @richdb? - the project known as Whatsup, as a native app for sailfish, is finished.

Not much point in your continuing to dissect 'the problem' - the problem is, the owners of Whatsapp have blocked Whatsup. It is said that a lawyer contacted the app developer and told him "No". For further reinforcement, you may wish to have a read of this from reviewjolla-blogspot; http://reviewjolla.blogspot.co.uk/2014/10/got-banned-in-whatsapp.html

Please consider closing your question.

Why closing? Lot of my contacts using Whatsapp and for example not Telegram (has two great native apps in the openrepos). So I need Whatsapp for daily use, but I not have a Jolla phone for using droid apps. I know the best solution is that Whatsapp develope a native Sailfish client.

So is it possible for Jolla to contact Whatsapp? Not think it is so hard to develop a official native Whatsapp client with source codes of Whatsup and Mitakuuluu3 around.

I also think Sailfish need native apps for Twitter, Facebook, etc (populair apps) to become a real player and populair. Not think the 'then use android apps' is really a solution.

Plain and simple: Stop using Whatsapp.

FB/WA is very restrictive in terms of 3rd party apps. In fact they do not allow any. So at some point Whatsup and all other 3rd party apps will not work at all or maybe work for a few days and the again not and so on. And there are plenty other reasons to abandon it.

Nevertheless, if you keep using Whatsapp just keep in mind that from one day to the other you might be banned (worst case) or just not able to receive/send messages for hours/days before a new patch of Whatsup arrives again.

I personally would not rely on a messaging application given these circumstances.

If the development of Whatsup has been stopped, then explain me this: https://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p=1485228&postcount=629

lol, fresh news!, well, who can see into the future!,

We'll see how long it lasts before Whatsapp detects all unofficial client users and boots everybody off again.

I downloaded the v0.2-2 from the maemo.org discussion, so far works great. I don't like the user interface of the andriod version ...
