[bug] [regression] [Performance] Suspendable apps

Dear Jolla guys, I found some apps going suspend or freezing when I try to switch between them on 1.9. It looks like very iOS-ish when you touch an active cover and get the app starting. Is it so? Does new Sailfish "suspend" apps like iOS now? Will the tablet has same "problem"? Because I wanted true multitasking linux Tablet when contributed on Indiegogo and did not want such behaviour neither on my phone nor on brand new tablet. Can you please drop a beam of light on this misunderstanding? I do not want to have another "Apple-like" behaving device, I want true multitasking like one I had on N9 or on Sailfish 1.

is is not suspending. It is out of memory killer killing apps to free more RAM. It's just that with latest version it leaves covers so you could remember what apps you had opened

@gunt3er actually the behaviour hasn't chenged much between previous releases and 1.9. The OS killed apps before in low memory conditions. It wasn't as visible as it is now that placeholders remain on the home screen.

That is wierd. I didn't have such thing before. I could run YTplayer, gallery, several browsers, Phone application, Mail and Tidings running at same time and easily switch between theme on previous Sailfish versions. But now I have to wait until app starts. If it is YTplayer, I have to go to a neccessary video and start it again, if it is Gallery, I have to go to an interesting picture and so on. I don`t like how broswer operates with tabs and started to use several browsers running to "emulate" active multitabbing. But now I cannot do this because something kills them. Does anybody know how to downgrade OS to previous release? Will the tablet have same "killer"?

i did submit the same question some time ago. on 1.1.7 i had 5-6 apps running without any 'losses' in 1.1.9 those placeholders with 4-5 apps are quite often happening so something did change and if it is the mem consumption of os leaving less for apps ... i do not realy care. 'freezed' sailorgram does not bring up notifications, so the placeholder is useless.

I am absolutely on a same page. I'd prefer real multitasking than slight and quick interface. Previous one was fast enough and served all of my needs very well. Jolla guys, please, confirm that you are not making another iOS or Android, I beg you. I paid for tablet on indiegogo and haven't received it yet but that is ok. If it will not have same problems I can wait for one month more. But if it is so I'd rather return my money.

It is not the same. I am looking for answer on my questions.

It is not what i'd call a duplicate but it is somewhat related. SFOS is a true multitasking system unlike Android or iOS but due to mem leaks in some system services it does not always look like one. If you want good multitasking performance you should skip the 1.1.9.28-update for now as that seemingly introduced the leaks. oom situations were pretty rare when only a few apps were to run simultaneously before the update. For some users the new cover behavior is also a regression as it did not show inactive apps while with the 1.1.9.28 update it behaves more like a MRU list.
