It seems that there are some issues when receiving flash SMS messages while the phone is locked and/or in power saving mode. If you believe these are completely separate issues, I'd be happy to create different posts per issue.

First, flash SMS messages are displayed on screen without entering a lock code even when using one and having "allow events when locked" turned off. I don't know if this is intended behavior, but since I'm receiving passwords by flash SMS it doesn't seem appropriate.

Second, sometimes flash SMS messages are lost. A message is received (alarms sounds) but nothing is shown on screen even after unlocking the phone. I believe this has something to do with deeper power saving mode since it seems to happen when the phone has been idle for a longer period of time.

My example messages are received from TDC Service Online portal.

Snack vending machines (e.g. some Selecta in Switzerland) use flash SMS to communicate with you, when you are buying stuff and paying via your phone bill.

Afaik works as specified, class 0 sms'es are supposed to be shown immediately, and sms class 0 message is not an event as its not stored anywhere.

Yeah, I realize they're not stored permanently. However, you wouldn't expect them to disappear without ever being seen under any circumstances.

I would also intuitively expect them to be hidden until the device is unlocked (according to a colleague that's what happens on a Nokia Lumia). But if this is by design, I'm OK with it :)

Appearing over the lockscreen is expected with the current design. It behaves similar to the clock alarm.

They should not disappear without being seen under any circumstances; there is at least one known bug on that topic. Power saving is probably not related.

OK, thank you both for your answers. Not a big issue for me.

To all: feel free to comment on the 'messages appearing without unlocking' -feature.

Didn't see this as I didn't know flash sms was a thing, but I have asked a similar question here: https://together.jolla.com/question/19064/flash-sms-should-not-be-readable-when-phone-is-locked/

The 1.0.4.20 update solved the known cause of this. Please comment if you lose flash SMS messages (hearing the tone, but not seeing any dialog) with that verison or newer.

It seems that the first message (after a reboot) is lost. As described, a tone can be heard but the dialog is missing. Subsequent messages are displayed normally.

Running 1.0.4.20

Tried with 1.1.6.27. First Flash-SMS received and displayed. I'm happy.

It seems that this issue (with some other related to Flash SMS, eg https://together.jolla.com/question/135615/bug-flash-sms-disappear-after-standby-in-sfos-20111/) reapered with 2.0.1.11
