When is the next release of SailfishOS?
When is the next release of SailfishOS scheduled?
I find it even weird they release 1.1.9.x to all users. It is a version that even has less functionality then the 1.1.7.x (Twitter and Facebook integaration are gone, quick silent option, new GUI that is not finished, etc).
Bring it out as early version for testing is an option, but not to all users like they have done now.
So in my opinion they need to release the new 2.0.0 version (with all 1.1.7.x option and more functionality) as fast as possible. Otherwise more and more users are going to dislike the SailfishOS.
its been a while since 1.1.9 went early access, so soon I would expect.

I do think the SFOS devs are pushing as hard as they can, whereas such user demands don't help even the slightest.
Okw ( 2015-10-14 17:32:10 +0300 )editsoon™ :) I see on some repositories on GitHub that they have already branched-out 2.0.1, so I expect 2.0.0/1.2.0 to be released to EA users in a few days/weeks.
1.1.9 was released last month, so they're right on schedule I guess.
g7 ( 2015-10-14 17:34:12 +0300 )editEnjoying 1.1.7.x Phone and having another one running 1.1.9.x for observation and comparison. I just fail to see the benefits of "2.0" story on the phone.
The UI is lacking finish, and apart from smooth animation, in usability terms it does feel 0.9 pre release all over.
Without huge under the hood optimizations (memory management) and return of certain conveniences and configurable options (like tap vs swipe cover actions, cover actions information display, lock method, placement of ambiances, row of favorite icons etc...) I feel the experience is now more mediocre than it needed to be if Jolla had not bothered assigning resources to "refreshing" the UI in favor of working on integrated services, security options, core applications and overall fine tuning.
Feels like Jolla has lost direction by trying a one size fits all for both current phone users, new tablet users and prospect Sailfish OS licensees. (Intex) and sadly fixing the UI back to 1.1.7.x style will be underlining this but IMO that is a necessity.
vandersmash ( 2015-10-14 18:31:00 +0300 )edit@vandersmash still haven't updated to 1.1.9.x on the phone as I'm still in denial mode in regard to losing usability with 1.1.9.x (swipe cover, swipe to lock, event view as overlay, etc.). But I'm afraid those will never come back, not as option and not for the phone only (where I find them harder to swallow than on the tablet)
