I know this was in the changelog for 1.1.9.28:

[jolla-clock] Removed remorse timer. Contributes to JB#27571

But I don't understand why it was done. Surely this goes against the whole point of having remorse timers if they're only applied on some deletions.

It seems easy to return it back, but only by patch.

I have no idea about why some remorse timers are removed by recent upgrades. It seems the developers want to distinguish between "remove" and "delete", and keep remorse timers for the latter.

@AliNa: it may be true, but for me personally "remove" and "delete" are the same thing from a user perspective - both make an entry/object go away. :) And I think most users think that way.

I didn't show my agreement, I just wanted to show my surprize.

Remorse removals started with 1.1.7 in and I tagged it as inconsistency first time I'd noticed it.

I think I was unclear, as my intentions wasn't to disagree with you, but to support your view in that I also am stumped and confused about the removal of different remorse timers around the system.

Here is our rule which we apply here: - We show the remorse timer whenever the user could loose content/info and it is not possible to get it back nor create it again easily. - We do not show the remorse timer in case the user can create the content/info again after deletion

Based on above, we do not show the remorse timer in case of deleting an alarm

it makes sense to me, thanks for clarification.

@Martin: it does make sense in a contex where deleting an alarm is a conscious action. However, in the current implementation it's too easy to accidentally select "delete" when you tried to select "edit", and then to have no "undo" is a big frustration. Even if it's "easy" to recreate.

Also, having the remorse timer adds minimal complication imo. Not having it introduces a risk. Weighting the pros and cons I think having it is better (or redesigning the UI to reduse the risk of accidentally deleting an alarm).

Does this patch work for people? I didn't have patchmanager installed so tried to recreate from the diff, but that didn't work - after some tweaking I eventually managed to get the alarm deleted but still not showing remorseTimer.

Currently trying to install patchmanager which is also not going well :(

works fine for me and you will not get it work manually because diff-patch doesn't contain all code-lines, you should use patchmanager

Thanks Ancelad, once I get the patchmanager working I'll give it a go then
