Seriously... that's one less tablet they could have sent to a paying customer. There's really no point sending out review units since no one can buy the tablet now. Also, sending it out later will allow a lot of the rough edges to be solved by software updates .

There's definitely point in sending out units for review.
Let's look at the big picture. One happy customer among a few hundred others compared to a review just before release made by a well-reputed reviewer site that reaches hundreds of thousands gadged enthusiasts.
Question: From Jolla's point of view, which alternative do you think weighs more?
as long as they cant ship even the first (189$ perk) tablets there is really no point in publicity. These hundreds of thousands gadged enthusiasts might check this Jolla thing out now and as there is no chance at all to get one at this point they might just forget about Jolla before the Tablet really hits the market. On top they might get repelled by the mood in the jolla community right now.

Interesting review, but they kinda missed the biggest selling point of the thing is that its a linux tablet.

I wouldn't buy one, and the reasons stated in the article are what the general public would conclude, they don't want to have to jump through hoops, that's why they'll buy an android tab or an icrap, nothing to get butthurt about here, it tells it as it is. Jolla need to work on the OS and apps, not f about with hardware when they can't make their minds up whether or not they're going to support it down the line, the general public will not wait for a product, and they won't buy this.
