I funded the indiegogo page back in November and it seems that everyone got a conformation email, is that true or was there an error in the system and because of that I didn't get one?

Don't worry, I did it on 21st november and still waiting too. Be happy, if we get the tablet, most apps are ported ;-).

I even got an invitation back on Sept 22, but still haven't got a shipping notification. I am guessing that because I ordered a 32Gb tab rather than a 64Gb (which is all the unboxing pix/vids I've seen) I'll be notified when that batch has been completed at the factory

With confirmation mail, do you mean: a message from Indiegogo confirming your pledge? Everyone should have received such a mail. It's a pretty standard part of any webshop transaction.
If you do have the proof of payment, you should cotact care@jolla.com
