I've imported a lot of contacts as VCF file, created on my PC. All the tags like "TEL;WORK;CELL" which are preceding the number inside the VCF file are shown properly in the Contacts application afterwards, e.g. as "Work - Speech - Telephony". But when using the Telephone application, only "Work" is shown, so I can't see if this is the home or mobile number which is referred to.

Why is there a discrepancy between the Contacts and Telephony application here? And what could I do about it?

See my answer in the duplicate question: https://together.jolla.com/question/1355/display-contact-number-in-call-history/?answer=12355#post-id-12355

Jolla did make this an inconsistency bug on (some mislead) purpose.

... and why are they not fixing it? I can understand that they do not show all information (like tel. number etc.), but at least the choice what will be shown should be consistent. Showing all tags in one application but only the first one ("Home" or "Work") in the other is IMHO not "on purpose" but a real bug instead.

Looking at the age of the older question... no idea, it is a two line edit and still seems to be impossible!

Thanks for your answer and support. However, I do not see how the duplicate question can actually help me. I do not want to see the telephone number (="remoteUid" in qml) additionally, this wouldn't help me much since I can't always guess the type of number from the number itself. I do want to see "Work - Speech - Telephony" instead of just "Work" in the Telephony application, just like inside the Contacts application. Since the qml attribute "numberDetail" is crippled I guess this needs to be fixed within the cpp sources (and can't be fixed in qml files)?
