All was well this morning as I left the tablet (switched off) on the counter. In the evening it refuses to start - with charging cable or without one.

Is there a reset / restart (doubt it with so few buttons)?

Luckily I am flying to Helsinki tomorrow. Where can I take it to for inspection?

I hate Murphy! 2 Minutes after I entered this, the Tablet said "BEEP" and is alive again!

ROFL. I need a Beer. Pilsner Urquell in the fridge? To take it or to take it, that is the question.

Lucky you that you have a tablet. I am still awaiting to this "second wave". Even though I am in the first perk group. I think this second wave might be a product of my imagination..............

I've had this a couple of times. It's a bit scary, especially when it doesn't come back when you connect a charger. I found that you need a decent cable and charger - as Jolla warned you won't wake the battery up with much under two amps.

Here's what worked for me: connect the charger, then press the power button for >10 secs to force it to turn off. Then release the button and press it again for a second to turn it on. That gets it to boot. Sometimes it switches itself off again after a couple of minutes, but if you turn it on again it'll stay on. I thought pressing the down-vol button while trying to power it on helped, but maybe not.

There does seem to be some problem that will drain the battery occasionally. Haven't managed to see what's doing it yet

the problem is/was a weak charger. Thanks for the tip!

What's with the discussion about weak chargers? Are people using something different than Jolla phone's (wall charger) or the USB cable provided with the Tablet.

Yesterday I left my Tablet to be recharged overnight and tomorrow morning it didn't start, no logo screen, nothing came on the display. I first tried connecting it to the Jolla phone charger I had just used to charge the Tablet overnight, then another and finally connected with the Tablet's own USB cable to a PC and nothing happened (even Windows OS did not recognize that a device had been connected).

So having tested "three" different charging methods I think (at least on my case) it's safe to say that Andy's suggestion there was the one that got the Tablet to finally boot. And when the Tablet was finally on the battery indicator on the upper left corner was displaying 96%. I wonder how come the Tablet did not boot in the first place..

How many charge cycles has your battery had?

Your described symptoms sound a lot like a power or battery issue. Fresh batteries sometimes require some usage before the hardware is able to calibrate the full and empty threshold voltages. And yes, batteries do have a voltage written on them, but that's nominal and battery packs have slight differences. I personally don't trust battery capacity indicators or other hardware reported values before performing a wear-in procedure.

As a first cure I'd recommend to leave it plugged to an adequate charger (rated around 2A) e.g. overnight and then try to turn it on. If this succeeds then use it until it powers off. Then repeat the same procedure a couple of times.

It is doing it again. Just "blank" and "dead". No reaction even after a USB cable and charging.

Any ideas what to do?
