Receiving longer SMS, more than 160 char [not relevant]

For some reason my phone is receiving only the first part of the longer sms message and the incomplete message ends with "#" character.

can it be so that sender should cut longer message into pieces and receiver (phone) takes only 160 first received characters. So the problem can be on senders side? Or this messaging app or what ever process in jolla phone should read all the received bytes (if not already). I did not have this problem with my old nokia, which makes me think that it is still something with my jolla.
