It could be a good idea to add a feature to encrypt cloud backups with... well with what... it could be the key of a toh, a password, a gnupg key (that does not even need to be on the phone at first).

Jolla's user base includes lots of people who mistrust Google and 'the cloud', so it would be very well received.

I'd prefer rsync/scp auto-backup but well, I am a geek.

Update: Now that Younited is coming to Jolla this is even more an issue, Younited/F-Secure seems to be a clean-label company. What does that mean? It means that they promise high security, tell that your data is in encrypted storage and properly backup measures are taken so you never loose any data and protect your privacy. All this breaks when actually reading how it works, the storage is encrypted - not your files, they scan for viruses so they can read your data. I do not want to have anyone accessing my phonebook (yes I know all my friends use whatsapp and so all of it is already uploaded to facebook but this is my data) and I want it save and secure locked up from access of anyone but me! Another storage by default unusable for confidential data.

So much for protecting $users, not.
