I have never seen landscape covers in the phone, I don't even know if they were planned due to the small size of the screen - at least that's why they are now excluded an screens smaller than medium.

Swipe covers won't work with current setup (there's a lot of discussion about that, I'm not going to go over that topic, again).

Locking the phone isn't that much harder now - the most difficult part is changing the attitude. I can manage locking the screen without even looking at it - old gestures are overcome by new ones.

Events view should be a layer on top of the app as it was previously, it slows down the usage when you need to reopen the app again after opening the Events view.

But these are just my opinions, everyone is entitled to their own. :)

To be honest, if i had not all these great patches, i would have bring back my n9 instead of the Jolla. I'm waiting for some answers from Jolla about all regression we posted on TJC ..

That's actually one of the things I'm really happy about, I don't know how the N9 is/was, so I can't refer Jolla to it and I don't long back to a certain look and feel. I have never had a MeeGo/Maemo device in my life, so for me Jolla is doing a great job at the moment and the UI is great, much better than it was in my Android devices and a lot better than in any Nokia I've had, and in all honesty the UI is now better than in pre-2.0. I've noticed that some of the users here refer to MeeGo/Maemo/N9 as the holy grail of mobile phones, maybe just don't? Let Jolla be Jolla and not blindly copy a former and already buried mobile OS. Those systems will most probably never come alive again, so why should Jolla try to mimic them? Some might say that because Jolla is based on them, so what? If a program shares some code, it doesn't mean that it should blindly copy and try to be the one that's being copied/borrowed? Why not make it look something different and try to improve it?

Sure i find it's the best UI on the market too, i'm very happy about the new way to use the app launcher, you can use it from everywhere, and it's a really good and functionnal idea that Jolla implemented since 1.1.9. I'm just disapointed that Jolla doesn't provide settings for new UI choices, like this each user can choose between the old and new way to do something. I think it will be the best way to make grown the OS. And i think it doesn't add more work, why remove old functions ? Just implement new things, without removing the old things, and let the user choose by himself the way he prefer. Like this everybody will be happy. Excuse my english raketti .. i forget to go at my english classes when i was younger ^^

Not an IT guy, so I don't know much about keeping two branches updated at the same time, or how easy/hard it is to just add new stuff to the code. I would imagin (with my very limited amount of coding) that it's not as simple as it sounds, add this and that, but leave this. As the theming..themeing? - well, the look and feel of the UI elements might collide when you have two different set-ups and separating those might get tricky. It would be nice to see the options to choose how the UI elements look, but I'm afraid that with the current resources Jolla has, it will take a while. So if/when SFOS will be a bigger player and Jolla will grow to have a few hundred people more, then they can have a proper UI/UX division to tackle these issues.

And when SailfishOS will be available for new devices - nobody will know how it used to look pre 2.0 except the old beta-testers (yes, I think us using the Jolla phone as beta testers for the OS) who have used it. Ok, there are screenshots etc. around the internet, but since the new customers haven't used the old UI, how can they tell if it's better or worse? There are always people saying "It used to be better back then...", but the new customer doesn't have the first hand experience to compare these two releases, so for the broader reason to refine the UI/UX concept wasn't to piss off old customers, but to attract new ones and I hope they succeed in that (without pissing of too many old users, of course ;) ).

Oh, and your English is just fine - really few here speak English as their native language, so no worries - learning by doing and so forth.. :)
