getting connection for updates does not work can I get help?

If the internet connection is working, and Jolla account is correctly signed in on the device, then go to the Sailfish OS updates in settings and use the pulley menu to check for updates. There you can also select when the device checks for the updates automatically. By default it should be set to check updates periodically when the device is connected to wifi network.

Doing the update from command line is not recommended and should be used only as the very last resort.
Just go to jolla.com ,look for how to update. You can try to update into terminal.
