Since I use my Jolla Phone (more than one year), the Galerie App has not been changed. I am missing a few features, which many other Organising Tools for Pictures (like Shotwell) have for years:

  • categorising and/or searching by date
  • categorising and/or searching by keyworks which are stored in the metadata
  • using different folders

I can remember that someone claimed there would be folders or some kind of thing like that in the galery app in the future...

That's why Jolla should make these apps Open-source. IIRC, Browser and Documents app got new features by community developers.

it is still not possible to see Pictures you got sent via Whatsapp/Instagramm etc. (from Android apps) That should be a basic feature in the Galery-App without workarounds!

I got my sister a Jolla and she is unhappy with this missig STANDARD-FEATURE!

I miss this feature too! It would be very helpful to find pictures with specific data.

This is a necessity and not too difficult to implement. Please, put some effort in it to fix this!

hi

your answer was 2 years ago and this basic feature is still not implemented. I am disappointed.

Get used to it. Jolla have made a lot of 'empty' promises. The experienced among us now know that 'soon' doesn't mean anything at all. This forum is riddled with plenty of features said to be coming 'soon' and yet, they are nowhere to be seen. Perhaps things will change 'soon'.

Just need more votes for this feature then we may get it next update. I already voted, because this would be good feature to sailfish. 31 votes isn't much..

Organization in Gallery is also a wanted feature for me. I upvoted, we never know...

@Jk: lots of votes only mean lots of people added a vote. There is no correlation with if or when the requested features will be implemented or bugs fixed.

Albums should come "soon". At least they started working on it in August:

Personally I expected this with SFOS 2.0 (as other not coming things) :(

cocovina ( 2015-10-30 13:05:01 +0300 )edit

I regret that it is still not possible to organize the pictures

"Albums should come "soon"." written on Oct 30 '15 ..... Ouch, that hurts.

Yesterday, I installed SFOS 3.0 which from my point of view should be more than a 2.3 (not a version update). I am disappointed that nothing has changed in the Gallery App. It is still not possible to let SFOS read the metadata of the picture nor is it possible to categorize the pictures which are stored on the phone.

Hopefully the "Screenshots" folder is a harbinger of good news and we will soon also have a folder for all photos/videos from the camera, which should be more or less the same as what has been done for screenshots.
