having received a sms, I'd like to save that number as contact, but Sailfish does not help: Cant' find a 'Save as contact' or 'copy number' in pulley nor popup, neither a option 'call that contact' and save the number from there. Isn't that a pretty basic feature?

ok it's possible to save a sms number to a new contact. It's just not congruent to the procedure of saving a caller number to a new contact. It's quite a bit more complicated.

Tap on SMS to open message, swipe from right to left to see contact's details, and if contact does not exist (only number shown) pull down menu -> Save

@danfin, the dot on top right tells that there's another page on the right.

When viewing the conversation, swipe from right to left to access the contacts information view. This screen has an entry in its pulley menu to save the contact.
