As the Jolla density is allegedly everincreasing, post your stories of how you ran into other Jolla owners across the globe:)

Not met anyone as of now. Although I do fear one thing with meeting other users - a lot of the Jolla users are well versed with how to run what commands, digging into root folders, tweaks etc. I can't handle any of that. Any tweaks I have done has been simply by following instructions posted here.

Maybe you can find some more stories here? https://together.jolla.com/question/93253/sug-sailfish-user-groups/

Density everincreasing??? Hardly....

I see Jolla users now&then in local train as I commute daily, maybe 2 times in a month.

I told some people about the phone and raised their interest. Some bought it. So I knew them before, but now they are real life Jolla users ;)

I didn't meet them as Jolla owners.

I made them Jolla owners.

Good for you, well done! I tried enticing others to switch to Jolla but absolutely everyone just goes, "meh!" :(

Whoa, that sounds kinda... hard to believe (no offense). So... how many people have you already converted, exactly?

ScumCoder ( 2015-11-02 00:32:55 +0300 )edit

@ScumCoder: I'd say 3,5. One only half because one of the other three 'helped' me. ;)

And please add 'mVM' between your 'Scum' and 'Coder' so I can ask you to please please please port ScummVM to Sailfish! :D

I'm a board member of the Linux Users Group Switzerland and also actively taking part in the community of the Chaos Computer Club Switzerland and we are a bunch of people with Jolla phones and also Tablets. Though the proud Tablet owners have yet to receive theirs.

We even held a SailfishOS Users meeting in our Hackerspace of the CCCZH, the Roeschtibach.

Here is a photo from my birthday party held last year end of November. A bunch of Jollas at my Birthday

Some time ago I was in a bar and took my Jolla out of my pocket when the guy next to me went like "YOU have a JOLLA?!" and at the same time his girlfriend went like "Oh my god, he and his Jolla... I think the evening is over...". So yes, it does happen that you run into a Jolla-owner. And I don't even live in Finland.

31.12.2013 ran into Jolla owner in bar in Helsinki and we talked long about what we liked and what we didn't like about the phone. Last summer in restaurant guy sitting to table next to mine pulled Jolla phone out of his pocket but I didn't comment it anyway.

Well, I got my Jolla for free from one of the first ones. He said he wasn't ready for a phone with next to nil apps. That was my first contact that right away turned into a non Jolla owner. Later I met this (lady) project manager who said that Jolla is a good icebreaker with customers. Later I bought a Jolla to another lady friend of mine as a gift.

So out of the three people I know using Jolla one gave his away and two are ladies.

Ah, yes, that's about the only place I have met other Jolla users; 3 other people at my office floor have Jollas.

One of them has also ordered the Jolla tablet (as I likewise...)

Discovered Jolla the day they went live with their first phone in May (?) 2013. I was in class and of course tinkering with my tablet instead of following the lesson ;)
I remember saying to my friend something along the lines of «well, this is really cool». He eventually got one a year later, and I followed after some months.

Also another friend bought one recently, but he doesn't use it as first phone.

Unfortunately I haven't casually strumbled upon other users. Except of course at the meetup with Mosconi in Rome last year, but ironically there I was one of the few without a Jolla :)
