Browser handling of new tabs [duplicate]

One tiny thing that I find rather impractical is the handling of "open link in a new tab". I wish there would be a setting to dictate the way the browser handles new tabs. I personally prefer that links opened in a new tab stay in the background. I believe it is an important setting to implement in the browser as yes, it does annoy me to every time have to switch back to the original page.
