I work in a heavy production environment with a lot of steel in the air. I am a bit worried for my Jolla and started throwing around some simple ideas for an "Other Half" that would be better suited for an industrial environment.

I would love to have one with the Camera hidden/protected. This would be a great way of proctecting the lens when it is not needed. Scratch marks on the lens is a real issue on ageing phones as it leads to poor quality when photographing. The simplicity in this is, of course, that one can print an exact copy of the "other half" with the exact same dimensions, but without a hole for the camera. I don't need my camera when I'm working, and I am also not permitted to take photos.

Eventually, this idea might lead to more advanced concepts, an "Other Half" with a flip-cover on the lens is also a good solution, but I will prefer a separate heavy duty other-half suited for industrial environment.

I hope there is any 3D-printing gurus among all you sailors that want to experiment with this. I will keep in touch on e-mail (: elias.johan.liavaag@gmail.com). I will also pay if anyone is interested in printing an "Other half" for me. I believe that Jolla could create a really interesting community of developers if they released plans and dimensions on how to print a fitting part. This is similar to what Nokia did with the Lumia 820. link: http://techcrunch.com/2013/01/18/nokia-releases-3d-print-files-for-lumia-820-smartphone-got-a-3d-printer-custom-print-your-own-removable-shell/

Keep in touch!

Check this thread in TMO where 'kimmoli' is making TOH with OLED-display and using a 3D-printer to do it. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=92239&page=3

In the TalkMaemoOrg there are other related threads in that forum, so you might find co-designers from there.

Update: AFAIK Jolla has plans to publish relevant TOH-specs for community to make our own halfs ;)
