The check should need 1.5 Gb of free space, but it fails with a notification about not having enough disk space.

  • I have 9.5 Gb of free space, still fails
  • I have rebooted the phone multiple times, also removing the battery, still fails
  • Tried to run the app database fix, it made the check take much longer (to ~5 minutes up from maybe 30 seconds) but it still fails

Any ideas?

Mine does the same! 5Gb of empty space, no SD card installed.

edit: And right as I type my above comment, the optimization goes through and the update can be downloaded :) Typical!

As root (launch a terminal, then log in as root using devel-su and type the root password the you can find in the Developer Mode in Settings), run:

btrfs balance start -dusage=5 /

The operation should take 5 to 10 minutes to comple. This should clean enough blocks for the full balance to execute correctly afterwards.

Thanks for the tip! I ran the command and tried to update again. This time it took around 30 mins but again, failed due to not having enough disk space. Should I tweak the "dusage" option somehow?

Allright I ended up running it with a -dusage=100, it took a long time and after that the pre-update check completed almost immediately. I wonder why, as I've googled around for a bit now and seems that the update check should do the same?

Anyway, accepting your answer with an added tip: if -dusage=5 doesn't work, keep pushing it upwards until you get results.
