Why is together.jolla.com not zoomable in a mobile browser? (Tested with Sailfish browser, Opera, Firefox; there is no problem with zoom in a desktop browser.)

Edit (after closing this question): Zoom is now possible (thanks to Keto), usability of Together on small handsets has improved a lot. For technical reasons however, the original expectation, that this would also provide visibility of the hidden elements, could not be fulfilled (see the accepted answer below).

Text part of the original request, which did not fully come true by granting the request: While font and image size in Together is quite ok for reading (even for me most often needing reading glasses), being not able to zoom out removes any chance of getting the additional items presented that are hidden due to the limited screen width (e.g. the ALL, UNANSWERED etc. buttons, number of views and votes etc.)

Is it really a zoom problem or some elements are hidden in the mobile version of this website? I'm specifically interested in the "Follow / Unfollow" button.

Open the website in the desktop browser and make the window smaller and smaller: Eventually you get the same view as on your mobile device. @jgr What I was saying is that the solution (probably) is not to let the site zoom out when opened from a mobile web browser, but to rethink the layout when screen size is small in order to show the most useful items / informations only and hide the others.

@donaggio: Same browser (Opera Mini) but different devices (Jolla, Tablet), I see different content: On the content exactly that additional content I am missing on the Jolla. I tried to enforce getting the desktop version of the website on Jolla: No difference to the standard version. So after all, I came to the conclusion: All devices get the same data. It depends on the number of horizontal pixels, how the data is layouted. Being able to zoom out, I would expect that the virtually higher number of pixels makes visible (not necessarily: legible) the missing items (as it does when a narrow the desktop browser to <960 pixels width but also set the zoom <1).

@donaggio: "and hide the others." Rethinking layout while still hiding stuff is one thing. However, what seems important to you may not seem important to others. So I want to be able to see all things! Being able to zooming would be a quick intermediate solution, i expect.

Zooming is now enabled on together.jolla.com.

However, zooming does not affect which elements are shown, as that depends on the initial screen size. That in mind we tried to add the essential hidden elements to the small screen styles. Hopefully this makes the site more usable on mobile browser.

Thanks @Keto :D IMHO, it does definitely improve the overall experience, getting it closer to the desktop version. Awesome work!

Definately much needed enhancement on Together mobile experiene.;) I especially like how the elements that used to be hidden are now visible, and zooming makes it so much nore easier to see and type stuff here! Thanks a lot.
