Hi there,

I appreciate the good work, that came up with the recent OS Update. As I don't know the history of any development prioritisation decisions, this might end up as a lonely post of my own personal opinion. Anyway...

...I would like to see more improvements on the core apps like Calendar, Mail, Contacts etc..

It's nice to have for example some fast access options in the event view, but to me it's the second or even third step to implement these small convenience features. There are so much improvements in interoperability, usage and design possible for the core apps, which in my opinion is more important.

It's a question of which way to go: To have the apps running "somehow" and just delivering some sugar on top to make the new OS shiny at first glance (and in comparison with the BIG mobile OSes, which to me is a completely wrong approach) or to grow the OS in a solid way by providing mature core apps first.

This might put it a bit to extremes, but to me Jolla should put some substantial stress on their app improvement.

You're right. The core apps were a disappointment when the Jolla phone arrived in 2013 and haven't changed much since (the browser being the only exception). I think it's reasonable for Jolla to focus on the OS and give lower priority to these applications... But I'd have expected at least some enhancements.

agree! Dont't facelift the OS but improve performance of the ensemble!

Would be great to get a reply by any of the Jolla guys regarding development startegy - either here or in the blog or somwhere else. just to get an idea how and why the things are prioritized...
