Please, before shooting or closing this idea (because there are already some similar), read, thanks.

SFOS 2.x is far better than the 1.x branch. And the way the shortcuts are implemented is pretty great.

But SFOS lacks an "out of the box" flashlight capability (as other OS on the market), we must install a third party app to get this utility. And worse, the current Flashlight app doesn't work on SFOS ports.

Having this integrated into the OS would first make user life simplier, and would offer this feature to the whole SFOS users community.

And it should work like Lux from Warehouse i.e. without unlocking, as a shortcut from the lock screen.

I think the correct solution would be to enable third party apps to go into the shortcuts.

@fl, please read the idea, 3rd party apps don't work on SFOS ports. That's why I think it would be better to have directly integrated into the OS.

i think i understood what you meant. however, i heard the first time you can not install apps. that sounds weird...

No, you can install the old Torch plugin or the Flashlight, no problem. But they just don't work.

Indeed I have @pichlo, and I suspect you didn't read all my idea ;-) All those 3rd party addons don't work on SFOS ports, only on the Jolla phone.

Well, I have read your whole post but you mentioned 3rd party apps. A switch in the quick actions is as "out of the box" and "integrated into the OS" as it can get. If that does not work in ports, then nothing will.

Hardware interactions like that are by definition device specific. We hope that licensing partners will implement it on their hardware but if it does not work on unofficial ports, we may just need to accept that.

@pichlo, it's pretty strange indeed. Because the Jolla camera application perfectly works on SFOS ports manages the flash as it should. But the flashlight application doesn't work nor the torch plugin setting (ok, this one is probably too much old). And on SFOS ports, there is no "!!enable_switch" trigger. So again, this idea. If the camera is able to manage the flash, the official parts of the OS settings could do it too I guess.
